Help & Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What areas do you cover?
A: We provide pest and vermin control across Preston and the wider North West, including homes, farms, estates and commercial sites. If you’re unsure whether we cover your area, just contact us and we’ll confirm.

Q: Which pests do you deal with?
A: We handle most common UK pests, including rats, mice, squirrels, moles, wasps, bees (where appropriate), ants, fleas, bed bugs, cockroaches, flies, stored product insects and more. We also offer specialist services such as air rifle pest control and canine detection where needed.

Q: Are your treatments humane?

A: Yes. We always aim for fast, humane control. We follow UK legislation and industry best practice, and we never use methods that cause unnecessary suffering. Where possible, we use targeted, non‑lethal and eco‑friendly options first.

Q: Are you insured and certified?
A: Yes. We are fully licensed, certified and insured for pest control work. We carry public liability insurance and follow all relevant health and safety and wildlife regulations.

Q: Do you offer 24/7 emergency call‑outs?
A: Yes. We have a 24/7 emergency number for urgent issues such as rats in kitchens, pests in high‑risk areas, or severe infestations. Call our emergency line and we’ll advise you on the spot and arrange a visit as soon as possible. Please be advised that there is a minimum charge of £90 for an emergency call-out.

Q: How quickly can you attend?
A: For emergencies, we aim to attend the same day where possible. For standard bookings, we’ll offer the next available slot that suits you. You can also use our “Book Online” page to choose a time.

Q: How much does pest control cost?
A: Costs depend on the pest, the size of the problem and the type of property. We’ll always explain prices clearly before starting any work. You can see guide prices on our “Our Prices” page or contact us for a quote.

Q: Do you offer payment plans?
A: Yes. For larger jobs or ongoing contracts, we can offer payment plans. See our “Payment Plans” page or ask us when you enquire.

Q: Will you need to use poison?
A: Not always. We use a range of methods including proofing, trapping, environmental management and, where necessary, professional‑grade rodenticides or insecticides. We only use poisons when they’re the safest and most effective option, and always in a controlled, legal way.

Q: Is pest control safe for children and pets?
A: Safety is our priority. We choose treatments and products with your family and animals in mind. We’ll explain any risks, keep baits and products out of reach, and give you clear aftercare instructions.

Q: How many visits will I need?
A: It depends on the pest and level of infestation. Some problems can be solved in a single visit (for example, a wasp nest), while others, like rats or bed bugs, usually need a course of visits to fully resolve and monitor.

Q: Do you guarantee your work?
A: For many treatments, we offer a guarantee period, provided our recommendations are followed (for example, proofing and hygiene advice). We’ll explain any guarantees that apply before we start.

Q: Can you help prevent pests from coming back?
A: Yes. We don’t just treat the problem; we look for the cause. We can advise on proofing, housekeeping, waste management and structural issues, and we can provide ongoing monitoring contracts for farms, estates and businesses.

What Is Pest Proofing?

You may have heard this term thrown around at some point or another, but what does it mean? Obviously it has something to do with making your home resistant to bugs and wildlife, but what is it exactly? Is it plastic skirting? Is it some form of chemical barrier? What is pest proofing? The answer is simpler than you might think. It is all of these and more.

Though some products can be considered pest-proofing, like some screen products, caulking equipment and gutter guards, they don't actually make your home pest-proof. If you're looking to protect your home from bugs and wildlife, you'll need all these and a lot more. Here are some of the many ways you can pest-proof your home.

  1. Many pests get in through windows. You must have no broken window panes, no rotted window frames, and working screens.

  2. Basement cracks are a prime entry point, so seal small basement wall cracks with a two-part epoxy crack sealer. For larger cracks, seek the aid of a professional.

  3. Your exterior walls can have entry points in a number of places. Use a caulking gun to fill in rotted areas and seal around fixtures, windows, outlets, pipes, utility wires and any other object that passes through your walls.

  4. Make sure all your gutters work and are unobstructed. When water runs down your walls, it can rot the wood of your home and make it easier for pests to chew their way in. It also leaves puddles for pests to get a drink from and moist soil for subterranean termites to live in.

  5. Open or unsecured trash cans can lure pests into your yard. Bugs feed and breed in trash, and wildlife will knock trash over to find something to munch on. Keep your outside cans sealed and in a location where they cannot be knocked over.

  6. Yard clutter attracts pests. They nest and lay eggs inside items that have been left on your lawn, which increases the population of pests in your yard and increases your chances of infestation. Keep your lawn free of clutter, trim weeds and grass routinely and keep lawn chairs and lawn items clean. The less your lawn feels like nature, the fewer pests will be tempted to wander onto it.

  7. Many pests are attracted to light. If you have outside lighting, pests will be drawn in, increasing your chances that they will explore your walls and roofline. Replace white bulbs with yellow, insect-resistant bulbs, or leave those lights off.

Though these tips can help you make your home more resistant to bugs, the only way you'll truly pest-proof it is by signing up for a year-round pest plan with a professional pest control company, such as us.

Q: Do I need to prepare my home before you visit?
A: Sometimes. For example, bed bug and flea treatments usually require you to vacuum, wash bedding on a hot wash and clear clutter.

Q: Will I need to leave the property during treatment?
A: For some treatments, yes, for a short time. We’ll tell you exactly what’s needed, how long you should stay out, and when it’s safe to return.

Q: Do you work with farms and commercial sites?
A: Yes. We have long experience with farms, stables, food businesses, landlords and other commercial clients. We can set up regular pest management contracts and provide documentation for audits and inspections.

Q: How do I book a visit?
A: You can use our Book Online page to choose a time, call our office number during working hours, or use our 24/7 emergency number for urgent issues.

Q: Can I see reviews from other customers?
A: Yes. You can read verified reviews on our Reviews page and on platforms like Trustpilot and Google. We’re proud of our reputation for fast, friendly and professional service.
